Mir Aminy

Facilitator

Mir serves as the Program Director for Project Rebound at California State University, Fullerton, a campus support program for formerly incarcerated college students. He is also a Ph.D. candidate at Chapman University. Mir’s research interests center on exploring the experiences of students with disabilities, particularly within incarcerated populations.

In addition to these roles, Mir volunteers as an instructor for the Prison Education Project, out of Cal Poly Pomona where he teaches at both men’s and women’s state prisons. Mir also serves students at Centinela State Prison who are pursuing their bachelor’s degree through San Diego State University. He serves on the Board of Directors for Higher Ground Youth and Family Services, an after-school program dedicated to supporting underserved communities.

Drawing from his own lived experience with the criminal legal system as a teenager, he brings a critical and personal lens to his work. In addition to being a Health Policy Research Scholar with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Mir has also served as a Justice Policy Fellow with EdTrust in Washington, D.C. and was selected to be a participant in the Fellowship of Leaders in Higher Education in Prison with Rockwood Leadership Institute.
